Pacaya Lodge and Spa is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. We have developed our lodge buildings, grounds, and operations in accordance with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria for hotels and tour operators, the gold standard for responsible tourism practices. For us, sustainability is a process of continually improving our lodge and operations to mitigate any negative environmental impacts while practicing good citizenship and investing in the the communities around us.
Environmental sustainability is a central principle of our lodge design. We have on-site solar panels for clean energy. We have air conditioning available for guest comfort, but our lodge has been designed to maximize air flow and reduce our need to cool common areas. The lodge construction incorporates local wood and is landscaped with native plants and flowers. We educate our guests on opportunities to reduce their environmental impact while staying at the lodge, and we’re constantly exploring practical, effective opportunities to further reduce our environmental footprint.
